Slate Pencil Urchin
Growing from the black stoneware pod are black and white porcelain pencils. The surface is decorated with parian slip and a mottled glaze.
Parian is a type of porcelain that imitates marble. It was developed in the mid-1800's by the staffordshire pottery manufacturere Minton and is often used in victorian sculptures and dolls and can be found in solid and slip form.
For piece of mind this piece will be delivered its own rigid tub within a well padded box.
